Research shows half of ifas only update clients once a year on portfolio performance

Rplan.co.uk launches service providing clients with monthly updates

New research (115 UK IFAs were interviewed by Citigate Dewe Rogerson during March 2015) by Rplan.co.uk, the online fund platform, reveals around half (48%) of UK financial advisers only contact their clients once a year regarding their investment portfolios. Just over a third (37%) do so on a quarterly basis, 5% every six months and 5% do so monthly.

Rplan.co.uk, which offers retail investors access to over 2,000 funds as well as pre-selected investment portfolios based on levels of risk, has introduced a service whereby clients are sent monthly emails to update them on how their portfolios have performed in percentage terms, any changes in the level of risk, whether individual funds have out- or under-performed and the level of charges.

Stuart Dyer, Rplan.co.uk’s CIO, said: “If investors have little or no idea what their portfolios are doing then they can end up losing many thousands without realising it. Portfolios should not be tinkered with too often – investment strategies require long term perspectives. But in today’s volatile markets things can go seriously wrong pretty quickly.”

As well as providing access to well over 2,000 funds for retail investors, Rplan.co.uk offers four pre-selected portfolios with different levels of risk.
